Respect for All: Football Clubs Set a Positive Example

Amanda from West Point FC and Martin of the MFCC U18 Colts

The Maccabi FC Caulfield U18 Colts were set to play their championship game on Sunday, September 15th, at 3 PM at the West Point FC ground in Point Cook. However, for some of the boys, the excitement was tempered by a scheduling conflict. As members of the Jewish community, they are required to pray three times a day, including an afternoon prayer known as Mincha. To ensure they could both participate in the game and fulfill their religious obligations, the team faced a difficult decision.

Fortunately, Maccabi FC Caulfield President Kevin Milstein, through his work at the Reagan Milstein Foundation, was able to connect with Rob at Point Cook FC, who in turn referred him to Amanda at West Point FC. Together, they arranged for a prayer room to be available at 1:15 PM on game day.

The boys and their parents were incredibly grateful for this accommodation, which allowed them to fully participate in both the game and their religious practices. This gesture of inclusion and respect from Rob and Amanda is a testament to the importance of understanding and accommodating different beliefs.
