We are sure that you have seen much of the incredible news coming back from Israel about Maccabiah 21 and the amazing performances by the Australian athletes and officials that attended.
As a club we are proud to have played a part in their successes and also in spreading the goodwill across the games.
As any major event that takes place, there are always stories behind the scenes that you often don’t hear about, one of them is the contacts that our own Martin Jona made with other football clubs and organisations while in Israel.
Martin caught up with Betar Nordia Jerusalem, Inter Aliyah and Social Goal Foundation and together with the Reagan Milstein Foundation he was able to donate football gear from MFCC Maccabiah teams to them so that they can continue to connect communities through football.
In the words of Martin, when he handed over the donations to Inter Aliyah “the guy almost cried from joy”. That is the power of sport and giving, a power that we continue to strive for at MFCC.
We hope that we can replicate, and even better, these results at the next Maccabiah in 3 years time. There is always a place available there for you if you want to share the journey.
