Over the last few weeks female and male footballers from Maccabi FC Caulfield have attended the Maccabiah team trials in Sydney. It’s a wonderfully exciting opportunity for all of the players to have the opportunity to represent their country at Maccabiah 2025 and make lifelong friendships.
It was also a way for our players to connect with other footballers from around Australia to compare skills and start those friendship circles early on.
We asked the players about their experiences and feelings at the Sydney trials.
One of the girls that participated told us, “Going into the Sydney trials, I was feeling nervous but also extremely excited. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and wanted to get to know the Melbourne girls! The games and drills were a lot of fun but also tested our abilities, it was a great way to get to know the other players. I learned a lot of new skills and different tactics playing with different teammates. It was overall a great experience and I loved it.”
Players told us that it gave them a sense of where their skills were at and what they had to work on, regardless of whether they make the Maccabiah squad or not.
A recent participant in the Pan Am games in Argentina reported back to us, “Participating in the trials of the U18 Boys Football team for Maccabiah 2025 was a great experience for me. It was fun, competitive and well organised. It was very cool to meet other boys from interstate and share the sessions the pitch with them. After representing Maccabi Australia in the Pan American Games Buenos Aires 2023, I hope to be part of the team for Maccabiah 2025.”
We wish all of the Melbourne footballers the very best of luck getting in to their relevant squads and we are sure that they will take a lot away just from the experience.
